Our Initiatives
Our programs are designed to create lasting change by addressing the root of mental health stigma: misunderstanding. Through education, outreach, and advocacy, we help individuals and communities build the tools they need to foster compassion, prioritize mental well-being, and support one another.
What We're Doing
Our Current Initiatives
Launch the “Tell Your Story” Campaign
By December 2025, FTS will collect and publicly share at least 6 personal mental health stories through a combination of social media videos, a community display wall, and printed banners, in order to normalize conversations about mental health and reduce stigma in Reno County.
Establish Funding Streams for Financial Aid Programs
By March 2026, FTS will secure at least $50,000 in funding through a combination of grant applications, local fundraising campaigns, and partnership sponsorships to support its mental health financial aid program and other core initiatives.
Offer Combat Sports Scholarships to Support Holistic Wellness
By March 2026, FTS will partner with at least two local gyms or training centers to award
20 combat sports scholarships for youth and adults experiencing mental health challenges, aiming to integrate physical activity as a tool for mental wellness.
Develop and Pilot a Mental Health Provider Training Program
By October 2026, FTS will develop a 3-hour stigma-reduction training curriculum and pilot it with at least 20 medical providers or staff in Reno County, with post-training surveys indicating at least a 25% increase in knowledge and awareness of stigma-related issues.
Plan and Launch Mobile Mental Health Services
By July 2027, FTS will design and pilot a mobile mental health service unit serving at least 3 rural towns in Reno County, offering free or low-cost therapy and medication management on a biweekly basis.
Open the First FTS Gym
By December 2028, FTS will secure funding, a facility, and staff to open a multipurpose gym in Hutchinson, KS that offers MMA-style training and on-site mental health services, with a projected membership of 50 community members within the first year of operation.
Beyond The Conversation
Education & Awareness
At Fight the Stigma, we know that awareness must be paired with action. That’s why our programs go beyond education to provide direct, meaningful support.
Knowledge is power
Advocating
We advocate for mental health by raising awareness, amplifying real stories, and pushing for better access to care. Through education, community outreach, and policy efforts, we strive to create a world where mental health is prioritized and supported.
Sharing Stories
Your story has power, tell it
Our story-sharing initiatives create a safe space for individuals to open up about their mental health journeys, providing comfort, hope, and connection to others who may be struggling.
